The 20th century was very good to the recording industry, bringing about new technologies, high profits, and an abundance of incredible music catalogs.  The 21st century however, has not been so kind.  The advent of peer-to-peer file sharing in 1999 marked the beginning of what has now become a full fledged industry crisis for music as a whole.  My love for music and my passion for innovation and problem solving has led me to devote my time to solving as many of the problems as I can. I have listed what I believe to be the major issues in my article, Defining the Music Industry Crisis.

Throughout the next few months, I will use my blog to provide a full public analysis of what I believe is a full on Music Industry Crisis. In addition to analyzing the problems, I will eventually publish my thesis, A Seven Point Plan to Solve the Music Crisis. I truly believe that resolution is eminent. My mission is to provide realistic and workable solutions in a format that is clear, concise, and easily understood. I will provide many proposed solutions, yet it will take all of us doing our part to truly provide a foundation for change. Under crisis the solutions must be easy for everyone involved in the transition to understand. The solutions must present a radical change from normal patterns. They must be loud enough to force everyone to turn their heads and take notice because it is going to take everyone agreeing on the notion of change to truly make a difference. Most importantly, we must all learn to be servants as well as capitalists and consumers. I truly believe that in the end, it all boils down to that.
